Description

As part of the post flooding works we want to take the opportunity of addressing water tightness issues at both Locks 11 and 12 on the canal, above Hebden Bridge.  This will mean that these locks have to be closed for the period that this work is on site.

Our plans are to work at Lock 11 in the week commencing 12th September and Lock 12 in week commencing 19th September.

Both sites will make use of fabric dams to enable the work to take place.  While these will close the canal at these locks for the periods they are installed, they also mean that we don’t have to drain the canal pounds above the locks so there will be no need for people moored in these pounds to move.

We are planning that both sites will be finished by the end of the Friday of the week that the works take place – weekend navigation will be possible through the locks over the weekends so there will be access to water/ services during that time.

We would ask people moored in the area to plan ahead and make use of the services in advance of these works.

We appreciate that this will cause inconvenience but trust that people will understand our desire to get as much work done as we can while the canal is closed by the larger civil engineering projects further upstream.

Boats will need to moor and turn in Hebden Bridge during these works.
