Huddersfield Narrow Canal, Lock 23W

The good news is that we’ve been able to complete a temporary repair this morning and the leaks through the lock head gates are much improved.  The canal has been reopened.

It’s not certain that we will need to do further work here as soon as September so are not setting a date for further urgent repairs.  We’ll review the information we’ve obtained and advise again if we decide to carry out more work here.

Due to excessive leaks through the headgate cillat lock 23W, we need to carry out an inspection of the top of this lock. We plan to do this tomorrow morning (25th August).

We do not expect this work to take more than half a day if we can undertake a quick repair we will otherwise we will need to return to the site after 5th September.

please take care when using the lock, water from the head gate area has the potential to affect longer boats. Ensure door are closed.
