Thanks to concerted efforts on Saturday 25th June, we have managed to complete the repairs at the Caen Hill pumping station ahead of schedule which has enabled us to open the canal earlier than originally planned.
The canal is therefore now open again to navigation.
Description
Pipework repairs being undertaken at Caen Hill Pumping Station were due to be completed today, with the pumps being switched back on to refill the Long Pound. However, due to additional complications, repair works are having to be extended over the weekend.
In order to replenish the Long Pound and allow recovery to water levels, the Trust will be closing the locks, Crofton Summit (lock 54 to 55) for 24 hours from 4.00pm on Saturday 25th June 2016.
The Trust apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by these works.
