Lock 19, North Stratford Canal

We are pleased to announce that the brickwork repairs to the chamber wall are nearing completion. However we now need to allow it go off properly to prevent it failing. Therefore the lock will remain fully closed until Saturday morning when we will open it up between 09.30 and 15.30 to allow for assisted passage through. 

We will also have assisted passage on Sunday between the hours of 09.30 to 15.30. 

No booking is necessary for passage over the weekend as the lock will be manned. 

The lock will then be fully open from Monday morning.

Unfortunately new cracking and a section of bulging brickwork has appeared within the lock chamber wall. 

We have started our investigation this afternoon and found a large area of loose and voided brickwork that will need immediate repair. 

Our teams are currently being mobilised to undertake the works which will begin as soon as possible within the next couple of days. At present we anticipate the works to take a week but we will provide updates as soon as we can.
