20/04/2016 13:05

The Council Engineers have confirmed that heavy lifting equipment is require to remove the bridge deck and take it away for extensive repairs. This operation will be completed on Saturday 23 April 2016 and the canal will be reopened on completion of this work.

Description

As a consequence of discovering a structural defect on the Starks lift bridge engineers from Shropshire County Council, who own the bridge, need to complete a safety inspection before the bridge can be operated again.

It is anticipated the bridge will need to remain closed for up to two days whilst the council make the bridge safe again. Further updates will follow when we have more information from the council engineers.
