The towpath needs to remain closed and diverted until late 2025 due to ongoing construction works by HS2 Limited.

The temporary towpath diversion route will be available to towpath users throughout.

Description

Contractors working on behalf of High Speed 2 Limited, are constructing a new railway viaduct over the Oxford Canal. To undertake works to the existing canal bank and to construct the new viaduct, it is necessary to temporarily close the towpath and provide a temporary alternative route around the works for towpath users.

The towpath will be closed to the public between a point immediately east of Bridge 128 a point approximately 100 metres east of Bridge 128.

A waymarked temporary alternative route for towpath users around the High Speed 2 works, will be provided.

The towpath is a public right of way at this location, and permission has been granted by Warwickshire County Council to temporary close the towpath and provide the alternative route.
