Please be advised, the Third party contractors working for the Environment Agency will be removing the flood defence stop-planks below Lock 3 of the Dee Branch on the evening of April 3rd.

The towpath will remain open but please approach with caution and follow any advice given by the contractors.Local diversions may be in place during the works.

Lock 2 remains closed and should not be operated as this may lead to significant water loss in the pound. Navigation to the River Dee is not permitted via these locks.

Please be advised third party contractors will be onsite between Bridge 127, Sealand Road and Lock no.3 River Dee Lock, Dee Branch Chester on the Shropshire Union canal to Install flood defence gates.

The third party contractors working for the Environment Agency will be installing the flood defence gates below lock 3 of the Dee Branch. The canal link to the river will remain closed over the winter whilst the flood gates are in place. Please note the canal remains closed at Lock 2, Bridge Lock.

The towpath will remain open, however a local diversion may be in place during the installation of the flood gates and we politely ask our customers to approach with caution and to listen to any advice that may be given by the third party contractors onsite.
