Poolstock Road (WMBC) Towpath Access Point Refurbishment - Leigh Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal

Please be advised third-party contractors will be onsite at Poolstock Road Towpath Access Point, at Top Lock 1, on the Leigh Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal to undertake refurbishment works.

The works will include the installation of a ramp which will to improve all access to all from Poolstock Road, Wigan and support access to the canal and wider recreational land.

Whilst both the towpath and navigation will remain open, towpath customers will have to leave the canal at this point and divert to the alternative route. This will also include users of the wider recreational (Wigan Flashes) on the offside of the canal, via the Lock bridge.

We politely request all customers to take note of diversion route signage, approach the area with caution and listen to any advice that may be given by the third-party contractors on site.
