We are pleased to advise the operating fault has now been resolved at Hayhurst Swing Bridge, on the Weaver Navigation and navigation has resumed for larger vessels with an air draught of 14ft 6ins / 4.42m or greater.

Please be advised navigation remains closed to larger vessels with an air draught of 14ft 6ins / 4.42m or greater at Hayhurst Swing Bridge, Northwich on the Weaver Navigation due to an operating fault preventing the bridge from being swung.

Our teams are planning to carry out modifications to the bridge abutment on the westside, We have planned for a series of night-time road closures commencing from Thursday 27th October for a period of 3-nights starting at 8:00pm to 5:00am, for our contractors to carry out these works and further investigations to take place during these closures.

The road will be reopened to traffic each day outside of these hours.

A further update will be provided on Tuesday, 1st November.

Please be advised navigation remains closed to larger vessels with an air draught of 14ft 6ins / 4.42m or greater at Hayhurst Swing Bridge, Northwich on the Weaver Navigation due to an operating fault preventing the bridge from being swung.

Our teams are investigating modifications to the bridge abutment on the westside, in order to carry out these our contractors will require overnight road closures. We are currently holding discussions with local council regarding the road closures and a further update will be provided once the dates are established.

Otherwise, an update will be provided by Monday, 31 October.

Our teams have carried out some extensive works, however, unfortunately they have not been successful in helping operation. We will continue to attempt further repairs with our contractors, and this will require several overnight road closures from the local authority.

A further update will be provided by Friday, 30 September.

Our teams continue to investigate the issue and are planning to dewater the floating pontoon sections, which provided uplift for the bridge, to establish the cause of the issue.

A further update will be provided by Wednesday, 31 August.

Our teams have found that one of the flotation tanks has water within it. Our specialist contractor is currently designing a method of repair. We will then need to obtain a road closure from the local council to complete the works.
