We would like to advise our customers that the navigation is now open. Please take care whilst the team on site carry out the remaining groundworks.

We would like to update our customers regarding the ongoing washwall repair works at Norbury. The team on site have been making great progress by working 7 days a week following a revised works methodology and thanks to good weather conditions. This means that works will be completed in time for the navigation to re-open on 17/03/2023. Norbury Wharf is still operating business as usual whilst the works are ongoing.

We would like to update our customers on the ongoing works at Norbury. We now have a revised programme of works. The dam has been reset. Excavation works of the current foundations are underway and new foundations will be instated. After this, the rebuild of the collapsed wall will be carried out.

The rebuild is now a larger project than we planned for due to the additional sections of the wash wall collapsing after the team had dewatered the canal. Works are now due to be completed by 26/03/2023.

Norbury Wharf continues to be open during these ongoing works.

The team on site will be working weekends and if we find ourselves in a position to pull the end date forward, we will update this notice.

We thank you for your continued understanding and we apologise for the inconvenience this additional time on site will cause.

26/01/2023 16:45

We would like to update our customers on the current ongoing works at Norbury. After dewatering, significant additional works have been identified as the wall is continuing to collapse. This means, that we need to redesign our work methodology to identify a more robust permanent repair.

Therefore, this will mean that this stoppage will need to be extended beyond 03/03/2023. At this stage we are unable to confirm an end date, but we are doing our utmost to minimise the length of the extension as much as possible.

As things develop, we will issue another update on this notice over the coming week.

21/12/2022 15:25

Following our previous update, we would like to clarify that the washwall repairs will be taking place upstream of Bridge 38 for 20 metres.

Access to Norbury Wharf will be accessible from the South.

19/12/2022 14:54

We would like to advise that Norbury Wharf Limited will be open as normal throughout the period of this stoppage from 8.30am to 5pm each day.

Their business will be accessible by water from the south and boats will be able to turn around in the canal basin at Norbury Junction.

Please contact Norbury Wharf Limited direct if you have any queries.

Some essential repair works have needed to be carried out at our Bradley Workshop. This caused a 6 week delay in gate production which means that 6 lock gate leaves have been deferred for a future year. This has opened a window of opportunity.

The Construction Manager and their team have reviewed the West Midlands program and have decided to schedule this stoppage after Christmas which will mean that the navigation is no longer blocked before Christmas. We hope that this change doesn’t cause you any inconvenience.

Description

A stoppage is required to carry out subsidence and washwall repairs.
