Our specialist contractor has been delayed to site and is due to attend within the next week to inspect the issue and provide a timescale of repair.

Our specialist contractor is due to attend Wednesday 20 July to inspect the issue and provide a timescale of repair.

The further works required to the system at Canning River Entrance Gate, Liverpool South Docks have been arranged for Wednesday 13 July, including further testing on the gate itself.

Whilst access through Canning River Entrance Gate remains available, our specialist M&E team will need to continue overseeing all passages. To book a passage, please call our North West team on 0303 040 4040, Monday to Friday.

Whilst works continue, bookings will be available Monday to Friday, tide dependant. Weekend bookings will not be permitted at this time.

We are pleased to advise that Canning River Entrance Gate, Liverpool South Docks has now been repaired and is operational to boats wishing to enter Liverpool South Docks via the River Mersey, and vice versa.  

However, whilst passage is possible, further works are needed to reinstate the back-up system. Due to this, our specialist M&E team will need to oversee all passages.

To book a passage, please call our North West team on 0303 040 4040, Monday – Friday. Whilst works continue, bookings will be available Monday to Friday, tide dependant. Weekend bookings will not be permitted at this time.

Please be advised Canning River Entrance Gate, Liverpool South Docks remains closed to operation. A major fault has occurred which is making the gate inoperable, and now needs a replacement part.

Our teams are sourcing the necessary replacement, however as the valve is unique, it will be sourced from oversees and we do not have a confirmed date of delivery.

Please be advised Canning River Entrance Gate, Liverpool South Docks remains closed to operation. Localised training on the operation of the new system is scheduled for 30th and 31st May and a valve replacement has been ordered, with delivery and installation estimated to be week commencing 6th June.

Canning River Entrance Gate, Liverpool South Docks remains closed to operation whilst our contractors continue works the control system with final tests scheduled for next week. Localised training on the operation of the new system will then take place week commencing Monday 23 May.

Please be advised, due to a mechanical failure with the hydraulic system, navigation through Canning River Entrance Gate, Liverpool South Docks is closed.

Our specialist hydraulic contractor is on site establishing a method of repair, following which we will then source the required replacement parts.
