Updates

Further to the notice below, we are delighted to report that our contractors have cleared the trees that were blocking the navigation by Bridge 119 ahead of their estimated plan.

There is still debris in the canal which will be cleared on Monday and the navigation will be reopened following this clearance and engineers inspection.

You are welcome to contact us on enquiries.walessouthwest@canalrivertrust.org.uk if you would like to discuss this information with a member of our Customer Service Team.

Our contractors have confirmed they will mobilise to site on Thursday 24th March to remove the remains of this tree which are blocking navigation.

Due to the size and instability of the root plate and the slope of the ground they anticipate this work could take five days to complete.

We will update with further progress when we are able to.

Description

Please be advised that contractors have now successfully cleared around 25 trees that fell as result of Storms Eunice and Franklin, and the towpath is passable for the whole length.

Unfortunately, large difficult trees which pose access and engineering challenges continue to obstruct the navigation at Bridge 119.

We are working with contractors to ensure the safe and speedy removal of these.

We will update this notice as work progresses and in the meantime, pictures can be found at @CRTWalesandSW

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and invite customers to contact the Customer Service Team on 03030404040 or at enquiries.walessouthwest@canalrivertrust.org.uk should there be any specific questions regarding this notice.
