Vessels should navigate with extreme caution and take flow conditions into account, when considering passing through; especially when approaching from upstream.
The towpath is also now reopened. We apologise for any inconvenience this closure has caused.

Further to the notice below, we are pleased to advise that contractors have cleared a limited path for single file navigation, although the bulk of the tree remains in situ. Please be aware that obstructions including partially submerged limbs, are likely to remain present.
Vessels should navigate with extreme caution and take flow conditions into account, when considering passing the obstruction; especially when approaching from upstream.
Unfortunately, the towpath will remain closed until the rest of the tree has been removed. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.

Description
Please be advised that following the recent strong winds, two very large trees remain obstructing the navigation just upstream of Thatcham Road Station Bridge.
Although work has begun, the size of the trees combined with entangled power lines and a damaged boat mean that specialist contractors and plant are required to complete the task, and the navigation and towpath must remain closed until the site has been safely cleared.
We will publish photos of the trees and the works as they progress to our twitter feed via the below link, but in the meantime please accept our apologies for the delay and any inconvenience.
