Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal - Llangynidr Locks (65 to 68)

Following successful repairs to Culvert 12 and with water levels upstream of Llangynidr returned to normal, we are pleased to reopen Locks 65 - 68. Please be aware that despite sweeping the Canal for debris, as we always do at this time of year, it is likely that some obstructions may remain in the water, so please remain vigilant.

Note that ;levels downstream of the locks are still low and will not be fully recovered until late this week (01.04.22).

Further to the notice below, we are sorry to advise that locks 65-68 are now closed to preserve water levels in the pound above.

The extended stoppage due to repairs at Culvert 12 prevents us from transferring water downstream, and we risk environmental damage if the situation is not controlled.

We expect the flight to re-open on 1st April when repairs are complete, but in the meantime offer our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Description

Please be advised that in order to assist with water management on the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal during the remainder of the stoppage period, a restriction is required on the Llangynidr lock flight.

Passage through the locks will still be available but must be booked in advance to enable us to manage water as efficiently as possible.

Bookings will be taken for passage between 10am - 4pm weekdays.

If customers require passage at weekends please arrange on the Thursday prior.
