The emergency works have now been completed. Boaters can travel through the lock during the normal winter hours which is 9:30am to 3:30pm, last boat in at 2:45pm.

Further to our notice, we can advise that the reason for these emergency works is due to further unexpected faults which have been found while assessing the lock flight.

By repairing these faults now, will potentially prevent delays when carrying out the planned works in January of replacing the gates.

There is the possibility that these emergency works may shorten the length of time we have to close the lock flight in January and this will be monitored carefully while the works take place. Any updates will be put on our website.

Description

Watford Lock Flight will be closed effective from 3pm Monday 22nd November until Friday December 17th.

The closure is to allow emergency works to repair the lock wall and floor at lock 3.

This work is in addition to the planned stoppage in January.
