Railway Bridge, Coneygree, Old Main Line

Due to unexpected issues onsite causing delays, the works have been extended and will complete on 17th December.  The towpath and navigation are open; however, there are still pontoons in the canal when the remaining works are being completed. We kindly remind boating customers to take extra care when passing through this area.

Please be advised these works have been postponed and will now take place between 6pm 29th November and 6am 3rd December. 

From 6pm 22nd November to 6am 26th November, the towpath between Pitchfork Bridge to Randalls Bridge will be closed and navigation restriction applies. Midland Metro Alliance will install the new bridge deck and cill beams for the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill metro extension. A diversion route will be displayed on site, please take extra care when following the diversion to re join towpath.

Lifting operations over the canal will take place between 6pm to 6am the following morning during the works period. Between 6pm and 9pm, navigation restriction applies. We kindly ask boating customers to be prepared for a short delay. Works will be temporarily stopped and area made safe for boats to pass through the work site. Please follow banksman directions.

From 9pm to 6am the following morning, the canal will be closed whilst the bridge deck and cill beams are lifted into place. The canal will re-open at 6am each morning for boating to resume.
