The works to remove the flood defence stop planks will now take place on the evening of Tuesday 10th May. The towpath will remain open but please approach with caution and follow any advice given by the contractors. Local diversions may be in place during the works.

Lock 2 remains closed and should not be operated as this may lead to significant water loss in the pound. Navigation to the River Dee is not permitted via these locks.

Third party contractors working for the Environment Agency will be removing the flood defence stop-planks below Lock 3 of the Dee Branch on the evening of May 5th. The towpath will remain open but please approach with caution and follow any advice given by the contractors. Local diversions may be in place during the works.

Please be advised navigation between Bridge 127, Sealand Road Bridge and Lock 3, River Dee Lock on the Dee Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal will remain closed until 13th April 2022 due to third-party contractors working with the Environment Agency installing flood defence gates. Lock 2 remains closed and should not be operated as this may lead to significant water loss in the pound. Navigation to the River Dee is not permitted via these locks.

Description

Please be advised third-party contractors working with the Environment Agency will be onsite between Bridge127, Sealand Road Bridge and Lock 3, River Dee Lock on the Dee Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal to install flood Defence gates.

To be able to maintain a safe working environment, the canal link to the river will remain closed over the winter period whilst the flood gates are in place.

Whilst the towpath will remain open, we politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and to listen to any advice that may be given by the third-party contractors onsite
