Divers are currently on site at St. Mary's Mill Lock fixing the new paddle frame and runners.
The navigation is now closed. There is no passage between St. Mary's Lock to Birstall Lock.
We aim to have the navigation fully open by the end of the day on Friday and will update the website as soon as passage is possible.
Thank you for your patience and understanding whilst essential repairs take place.

We now have a timeline for the planned works at St Mary's Mill Lock.
- On Wednesday the 22 September, the divers will fix the new paddle frame and runners at St. Mary's Lock.
On Thursday the 23 September, the divers will be back at St. Mary's again to tighten the nuts of the threaded bar. The work boat will then travel from St. Mary's Lock to Birstall Lock, which will take around 2 hours. The divers will dive at Birstall on the afternoon of the 23rd to fix the new paddle post.
On Friday, the 24 September, the divers will be back at Birstall to tighten the nuts of the threaded bar and inspect the offside paddle.
There will be no passage through these locks while this work is taking place between the 22nd and 24th September.
We aim to have the navigation fully open by the end of the day on Friday and will update the website accordingly.

Further investigations have been carried out today, we can advise that the lock will remain operable but there is still lower water level in the pound between Aylestone Mill Lock and St Mary's Mill Lock.
There is the continued issue with the towpath side ground paddle at St Mary's Mill Lock which has been damaged.
The paddle gear has been retrieved but the slider is missing and a full stoppage will be needed to fix the paddle.
We will update the website once we have a date for this, as we will need to plan divers for this work.

We continue to have an issue with the towpath side ground paddle at St Mary's Mill Lock which has been damaged. The paddle gear has been retrieved but the slider is missing so we have been unable to replace the paddle.
After investigations today, we can advise that the lock has remained operable but there is still lower water level in the pound between Aylestone Mill Lock and St Mary's Mill Lock.
Further investigations will be taking place tomorrow by our engineers, to assess how best to resolve this with minimum disruption. As soon as we have more information, we will update the website.
