Our teams have had a successful day at Lock 63, Johnson’s Hillock on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. The cill and concrete are now in place, and the teams will return tomorrow to finish the works, demobilise site and re-water the pounds. Our team continue to control the water levels along Johnson’s Hillock to prevent silt build up further down the lock flight. Stable water levels are needed to install the flexidam and create a safe working environment to be able to repair Lock 63 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

Our teams are still on course to lay the concrete over the next few days and our local team are supporting our reactive team and looking into available resources to see if we are able to work over the weekend period. This will depend on the curing time for the concrete.

A further update will be provided on Monday 30 August.

23/08/2021 15:11

Our teams remain on site with pumps to dewater the canal at Lock 63, Johnson’s Hillock on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. However, the flow of water from the upper pounds is still preventing a safe working environment. Our teams have begun to dewater the upper pound and plan to pump the last bits out by tomorrow morning. The team will then install new shuttering ready for the concrete. Once the concrete has cured, they will secure the capping pieces before demobilising site and re-watering the canal.

An update on progress will be provided on Wednesday afternoon, 25 August.

19/08/2021 16:06
