Railway Bridge, Hempole Lane, Walsall Canal

The towpath will be closed for the duration of works. Navigation closure and restrictions apply at various times when Midland Metro Alliance install the new bridge deck and cill beams for the Wednesbury to Brierly Hill Metro extension on the Walsall Canal.

The towpath will be closed from 6am 10th May until 6am 13th May. Please take extra care and follow diversion route displayed on site.

Lifting operations over the canal will be permitted between 18.00 and 06.00. The works are programmed to be completed over 3 nightshifts; details of navigation restriction and closure are as follows: -

From 10th May to 13th May, the canal will open between 6am and 6pm daily.

After 6pm until 9pm, navigation restriction applies. We kindly ask boating customers to be prepared for a short delay. Works will be temporarily stopped and area made safe for boats to pass through the work site.

From 9pm to 6am the following morning, the canal will be closed whilst the bridge deck and cill beams are lifted into place. The Canal will re-open at 6am each morning for boating to resume.
