This Stoppage has been extended. We have taken the decision to extend this Stoppage. This is to undertake the additional work of replacing the gates at Lock 7, this Stoppage will now be completed on 04/03/2022. The gate replacement at Lock 7 was due to take place in a future Stoppage but the new gates are ready ahead of schedule and it is thought carrying out the works now will be of most benefit to canal users. We apologies for any inconvenience caused.

We have had to alter the date of this stoppage due to issues with sourcing timber materials. This has caused delays to the production of lock gates and has meant that the gates for this stoppage will not be ready for the original planned stoppages dates.

The new stoppages dates that we are publishing now will mean that this work will still be carried out during the Winter months and ensures the gates will be fit for use during the Summer.

Description

A stoppage is required to carry out repairs at Watford Locks as follows:

Lock 1 – Improvements to the lock ladder and repairs to address leakage
Lock 3 – Replacement of the bottom lock gates
Lock 4 – Repointing of brickwork below the copings
Lock 5 – Brickwork repairs within the lock chamber
Lock 6 – Brickwork repairs within the lock chamber
Lock 7 – Replacement of the top and bottom gates
