Works are progressing well at Thorne Lock, with the top gates in position and work on the cills well underway. The lower gates will be lifted into position in the coming days.
Water levels in the area have been challenging to manage and resulted in initial delays during site set-up. This has been further compounded by thefts from site and additional grouting works to the lock wall to seal leaks. Whilst a portion of this lost time has been recovered, it has become necessary to extend the stoppage by 4 days, with a revised re-opening of the lock now planned for Friday 27th May 2022.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

We have reviewed our delivery options for this stoppage. Due to the requirement of one of our crane boats that is currently already on a stoppage, the start date for this stoppage is now early April. We have explored the use of a land crane to help with lifting the gates and dams but due to site restrictions this is not possible and we need to utilise the crane boat. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

This stoppage is not currently going ahead as planned due to a delay in the manufacture of the gates. We are exploring all possible delivery options to try and complete this stoppage with minimal customer impact. We are hoping to start on site in early March and a further update will be issued once we have precise dates for this stoppage.
