The issue with the fabric dam above lock 1, that was installed to allow the works to continue whilst the canal is open, has now been repaired and the Hertford Union canal now is open.

We have been advised that the issue is with the fabric dam that has been installed to allow the works to continue whilst the canal is open.

Unfortunately the dam has failed, but the specialist contractor is on the way to site to address the issue and the navigation will be reopened as soon as possible.

We will update this notice as soon as further information becomes available.

Description
