We are pleased to advise our local team have carried out a successful repair to the paddles and cill liners of Wigan Dry Dock. Scaffolding and stop planks have now been removed and a sufficient testing period has been completed. The Wigan Dry Dock will be open and back in operation from Friday 13 August. We are pleased to advise work is progressing well at Wigan Dry Dock.

Our local teams will begin to remove the scaffolding supports from Monday next week, followed by the removal of any stop planks.

Our teams are currently on site and in the process of facilitating a repair to the cill liners of Wigan Dry Dock.

We are pleased to advise our teams and engineers have identified a method of repair, and sourced suitable stop planks to allow our teams to work safely when conducting the repair to Wigan Dry Dock.

Our team will be starting work Monday 26 July.

Our teams have located suitable stop planks for the works at Wigan Dry Dock.

Unfortunately due to several urgent priorities arising in the North West our teams are unable to mobilise at present, we expect to be able to provide a further update on progress on Monday 19 July.

Our teams are continuing discussions with contractors to finalise the planned work at Wigan Dry Dock.

Our teams and engineers have visited site and established a method of repair. Our teams are now arranging meetings with contractors to discuss installation of the dams and scaffolding.

Due to several urgent issues arising in the North West we expect to be able to provide a further update on progress on Monday 21 June.

Our teams are currently investigating an alternative method of repair that will have less of an impact on our customers. Until this has been established, Wigan Dry Dock will remain closed.

We have now established a method of repair for the gates at Wigan Dry Dock on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. We need to install a fabric dam so the forebay and cill can be cleaned out before repairs are made to the central mitre and gate paddle to reduce the leakage.

Unfortunately, due to a number of infrastructure-related issues in the North West posing hazards to navigation, we anticipate works to the Dry Dock will commence later in May.

An update on progress will be provided by Friday, 21 May.

Please be advised Wigan Dry Dock on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal remains closed due to a severe leak through the gates affecting safe operation of the dry dock.

Due to arising issues in the North West, our site visit has been delayed. Our local engineer will be on site next week to undertake an inspection of the gates and organise a method of repair.

A further update will be provided by Monday, 26 April.

Further investigations to the gate are necessary and our local engineer will be on site next week to undertake this inspection.

Please be advised Wigan Dry Dock on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal remains closed due to a severe leak through the gates affecting safe operation of the dry dock.

Specialist divers have been contracted to remove debris and silt from the gates and will make further investigations to the gates during the operation.
