We are pleased to advise the repair to Acton Swing Bridge the Weaver Navigation has been successful and navigation has resumed.

Please be advised navigation remains closed to vessels with an air draught greater than 7ft 6ins / 2.3m at Acton Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation. Our specialist contractor is returning to site this week and a further update will be provided on Monday 8th November.

Please be advised navigation remains closed to vessels with an air draught greater than 7ft 6ins / 2.3m at Acton Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation. Our teams have taken parts off-site for specialist repair and a further update will be provided on Wednesday 3 November.

Please be advised navigation remains closed to vessels with an air draught greater than 7ft 6ins / 2.3m due to an unsuccessful swing following reinstallation of the drive unit. Investigations and testing continue and a further update will be provided on Wednesday 13 October.

Please be advised our Engineers and contractors are in the process of arranging a repair for Acton Swing Bridge.

The necessary equipment has been ordered, and we’re hopeful contractors will facilitate the installation during an annual service visit on the 22 September.

Once the parts have been installed, we will need to complete operational safety checks of the bridge to ensure a safe and satisfactory operation.  

Until then navigation for larger vessels is still restricted.

A further update will be provided 22 September.

Description

Please be advised there is currently a navigation restriction required for larger vessels than cannot navigate beneath Acton Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation due to an operating fault.

Due to the recent flooding, the bridge has sustained damage to the Electrical and Mechanical equipment and cannot be operated at this time.

The Trust MEICA contractor will be attending to establish a means of repair.

A progress update will be provided as soon as one becomes available
