We are pleased to advise the mechanical failure and cross-river ducting have now been repaired at Winnington Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation and the bridge is now open to navigation without restriction.

Please be advised specialist divers will be onsite to carry out a repair to the cross-river ducting directly beneath Winnington Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation on Thursday 11 August between 9.00am and 3.00pm.

To maintain a safe working environment navigation will be closed to all crafts for the duration of the repair.

Navigation remains closed to vessels with an air draught of 9ft 0ins / 2.74m or greater at Winnington Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation due to a mechanical failure preventing the bridge from being swung.

The mechanical works require a council-approved road closure. Our teams continue to work with the local council to seek the required approval for a revised road closure, which had previously been cancelled, and further denied, due to a land slip at Soot Hill preventing vehicle access via another main road.

An update on progress made will be provided by Friday 29 April.

Please be advised navigation remains closed to vessels with an air draught of 9ft 0ins / 2.74m or greater at Winnington Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation due to a mechanical failure preventing the bridge from being swung.

The mechanical works require a council-approved road closure. The road closure planned for 10 January was cancelled due to a land slip at Soot Hill preventing vehicle access via another main road. Unfortunately, a revised road closure has been denied due to the ongoing road closures from the land slide.

We will endeavour to obtain a road closure approval from the council and will provide updates on progress. An update will be provided Monday, 28 March.

The planned overnight road closure approved by the Local Authority has been delayed due to a land slide in the town preventing vehicle access via another main road. Our teams are seeking a further road closure approval to allow our contractors to complete the repair works to the damaged components.

Please be advised there is a navigation restriction required for larger vessels with an air draught of 9ft 0ins / 2.74m or greater at Winnington Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation due to a mechanical failure preventing the bridge from being swung.

A specialist electrical contractor has established the failure and works are underway to repair the damaged components.

A progress update will be provided by Monday, 25 October.

Description

Please be advised there is a navigation restriction required for larger vessels that cannot navigate, currently, beneath Winnington Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation due to an operating fault.

Due to the recent flooding the bridge has sustained damage to the electrical components and cannot be operated at this time. A Specialist Electrical contractor will be removing and replacing the damaged components.

A progress update will be provided as soon as one becomes available
