We are pleased to advise navigation has resumed at Bridge 34, Whinnyfield Bridge on the Lancaster Canal.

We are pleased to advise Bridge 34, Whinnyfield Bridge on the Lancaster Canal has been successfully repaired.

However, navigation remains closed due to remaining equipment in place, we are hopeful this will be removed Monday.

A further update will be provided Monday 15 March.

Our contractors are progressing well onsite and works continue to Bridge 34, Whinnyfield Bridge on the Lancaster Canal.

All masonry has now been successfully recovered from the canal and our contractors have started the reconstruction works to repair Bridge 34, Whinnyfield Bridge on the Lancaster Canal.

Navigation remains closed whilst these works continue and a further update will be provided Friday 5 March.

Navigation remains closed at Bridge 34, Whinnyfield Bridge on the Lancaster Canal whilst our contractors continue to make the necessary preparations for mobilising site.

Our aim is to start in the next 2 weeks, initially using waterborne equipment to salvage the masonry from the canal and then start on reconstructing the damaged walls.

A further update will be provided Friday 26 February.

We have now established a design for the repair to Bridge 34, Whinnyfield Bridge on the Lancaster Canal and our contractors are making the necessary preparations for mobilising site.

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing effects from Storm Christoph and arising emergency works in the North West, our teams are working on multiple issues which has affected the overall timescale for these works. However, we anticipate works here will start in the next 2 to 3 weeks, subject to third party access constraints.

A further update will be provided by Friday 12 February.

Please be advised navigation remains closed at Bridge 34, Whinnyfield Bridge on the Lancaster Canal for the safety of our customers. The severe vehicle damage to the bridge has led to some sections of masonry being in the canal below and we are looking into ways we can safely retrieve these sections before we can carry out works to make the bridge safe for navigation.

Unfortunately, due to access constraints, we are unable to confirm timescales at this point and a further update will be provided by Friday 29 January.

For the safety of our customers, navigation will remain closed at Bridge 34, Whinnyfield Bridge on the Lancaster Canal following the vehicle strike in December.

Our teams continue to work together on a method of repair, whilst it is understood that the repair may take some time due to the extent of the damage, our priority is to make the bridge safe for navigation to resume.

A further update on timescales will be provided by Friday 15 January.

Our teams have been to site to assess the damage caused to Bridge 34, Whinnyfield Bridge on the Lancaster Canal. Due to the damage caused, the bridge requires extensive repairs and remains unsafe to the public, therefore navigation will remain closed.

Our teams are now working on a method of repair and a further update will be provided Friday 8 January 2021.

Description

Please be advised, for the safety of our customers, navigation is currently closed at Bridge 34, Whinnyfield Bridge on the Lancaster Canal due to a vehicle strike. Our team have been to site and assessed some of the damage, however, due to the repairs required, our engineers will need to complete a full assessment.

An update on progress will be provided Wednesday 16 December.
