Bridge 28, Heatons Bridge

Please be advised that Third party contractors will be onsite at Bridge 28, Heatons Bridge on the Leeds and Liverpool canal to carry out tactile and visual bridge Inspections on behalf of Lancashire County council.

The third party contractors will  undertake inspections of the bridge using a floating pontoon access platform and scaffolding tower.  There may a short delay of 20/30 minutes for the boater until the pontoon is moved out of the way. The works will be phased to minimise the restriction.

No vehicle access is permitted along the towpath,  all equipment will be manual handled or floated into position.  All equipment will be removed at the end of each shift.   

Whilst the navigation will remain open we politely ask customers to approach the area with caution and  listen  to any advice that may be given by the third party contractors and be prepared to stop if necessary.
