Bridge 53 Lodge Bridge and Bridge 54, Smithy Bridge

Due to excessive waiting times for the materials to be delivered, third-party contractors have had to defer the original start date for the work.

The new date commencing from 7th December to 14th December

Please be advised that Third party contractors will be onsite between Smithy bridge 54 and Lodge bridge 53 on the Rochdale Canal.

The third party contractors working for Sustrans will be replacing and relocating bollard / posts to allow better access for cyclists. 

The towpath will remain open,  bollards and posts will be sited within the towpath surface and all works will be fenced off with appropriate fencing. We politely ask customers to approach the area with caution and  listen to any advice that may be given by the third party contractors.
