Updates

28/10/2020 13:00

Further to the information below, please be advised that due to the difficulties we have encountered during the bad weather, the planned lifting operation has been suspended until conditions improve.

The unforeseen delay requires the works to be extended, as a result of this no river traffic will be able to pass under the bridge during the times of 7.00am – 12:00 midday, from Monday 2nd November until Tuesday 3rd November 2020.

The extended period will not include the weekend.

Safety boats will be stationed both up and down stream of the works.

Please listen to any advice from the site team and navigate past the works slowly and with extreme caution.

If you require any further information please contact us on enquiries.walessouthwest@canalrivertrust.org.uk  should there be any aspect you would like to discuss.

16/10/2020 12:50

Further to the information below, it has unfortunately not been possible to arrange night time working for the overhead tasks which follow the main lifting activities.

This is due to increased safety risk caused by working in the dark and concerns about the noise generated by machinery.

Instead, from the 27.10.20 to 30.10.20 inclusive, the River will now be closed for overhead works at the A4440 road bridge, between 07:00 AM and 12:00 Noon each day.

We have arranged for Bevere and Upper Lode Locks to remain open for an extra hour each afternoon until 17:00, for the duration of the works, on a booked basis and trust this will prove helpful.

If you require any further information please contact us on enquiries.walessouthwest@canalrivertrust.org.uk  should there be any aspect you would like to discuss.

Description

Please be advised that lifting operations in association with the major A4440 highway scheme will be taking place over the navigation, which unfortunately means that passage under the A4440 Carrington Road Bridge will not be possible between the hours of 10:00 and 14:00 on the above dates.

Further over head works will be required after the main lifts are complete, but subject to final agreement with the Contractor and its client, we hope that these will take place during the night over the following two weeks.

We will provide further information in this respect, as the arrangements are confirmed.

The lifting works are extremely vulnerable to disruption in the event of strong winds, and we ask that customers are understanding, should the programme be delayed by circumstances beyond anyone’s control. We will keep this notice current with further information as and when it is available.

Safety boats will be stationed both up and downstream of the construction site and the crews will be in touch with Trust staff. Please take account of any local advice and pass the construction site slowly and with extreme caution.

If you require any further information please contact us on enquiries.walessouthwest@canalrivertrust.org.uk  should there be any aspect you would like to discuss.
