Description

The navigation remains open when this section of towpath will be closed to public as we undertake repair works to Saturday Bridge retaining wall. The works will be serviced by a crane located on a car park adjacent to the towpath. It is for the safety of pedestrians and cyclists that lifting operations must be carried out whilst the towpath below is kept clear.

All works have been carefully considered before returning to site and will be done in line with social distancing rules and as per current Government guidance. Due to the need for social distancing, it is not possible to carry out works with temporary closure of the towpath as there is a risk of members of the public congregating within confined areas at each end of the site. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

From Wednesday 13 May our canals and rivers are open for navigation. Our towpaths are also open for exercise or journeys to undertake essential work, but please try to avoid any stretches with boats moored against the towpath. Strictly observe social distancing at all times, following the latest advice from the government. Before you go by boat, bike or boot, remember to check your route.
