Perry Barr Lock 2 Access Point, Tame Valley Canal

The Trust have worked together with our contractors to ensure the towpath remains open during these works, having reviewed recent updates and current country-wide restrictions. We have therefore lifted the towpath closure and now only the access point at Lock 2 remains closed for the duration of the works.

This section of towpath is closed for construction works as part of a larger project. The Canal & River Trust will be undertaking works to create an access from the towpath adjacent Perry Barr Lock 2 to the field of Perry Park. The works include providing a ramped access that is suitable for all users and links with the existing pathway over Perry Barr Lock 2 footbridge.

In order to undertake the work safely, our contractors will require towpath to be closed from the access point at Perry Barr Lock 8, heading West, and Perry Barr Lock 2 Footbridge, heading East.

From Wednesday 13 May our canals and rivers are open for navigation. Our towpaths are also open for exercise or journeys to undertake essential work, but please try to avoid any stretches with boats moored against the towpath. Strictly observe social distancing at all times, following the latest advice from the government. Before you go by boat, bike or boot, remember to check your route.
