Please be advised that due to the Covid-19 restrictions preventing flood recovery works in March, the buoys which mark the shallows below Carrington Road Bridge, are not currently in position.

We are working on a resolution and plan to have them back in place shortly after restrictions are lifted.

In the meantime, please be vigilant for the missing buoys and navigate with caution to avoid the shallows. When navigating this area, vessels should follow the guidance below:

When travelling North (upstream) between the top of the SMYC pontoon and the A4440 Road Bridge, boats should keep left of the centre of the River to stay in the deep-water channel.

When travelling South (downstream) between A4440 Road Bridge and the top of the SMYC pontoon, boats should keep right of the centre of the River to stay in the deep water channel.

We apologise for any inconvenience whilst this issue is rectified and invite customers to contact the Customer Support Team on 03030404040 or at enquiries.walessouthwest@canalrivertrust.org.uk should anyone wish to discuss this notice.

Please remember our advice - only move your boat if it’s essential (not for leisure purposes) and minimise your use of the towpath.

If you are not currently occupying your boat the government guidance is that you must not visit it (this means no short trips or breaks on your boat at this time).

Please follow the government advice – stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives.
