Please note that Network Rail has requested the start date for this navigation closure at Kingswood Arm Railway Bridge be brought forward by one day to 6pm on 28/12/2020, to coincide with their overnight railway possession.
The works around the bridge will now be undertaken over an eleven week period. There will be some restrictions to navigation between 16/11/2020 and 31/01/2021 and the towpath will be closed for eight weeks from 30/11/2020 to 31/01/2021. Separate notices will be issued providing more details.
Please take care when travelling through the area.
Description
Network Rail will be replacing the deck of Kingswood Arm Railway Bridge. These works will be completed over an eight-week period but Network Rail requires a one-week stoppage, between 29/12/2020 – 02/01/2021, which coincides with a rail possession.
A crash deck will be installed across the canal, the abutments will be repaired, and a new bridge deck will be lifted in during the closure.
Network Rail will contact local moorers in connection with these works.
