Thursday 30th July 2020 05:30 until 22:00

To enable safe access to compete repair works to the weir, water levels will be lowered from 05.30am on Thursday 30th July with an overall reduction of 300mm on normal levels.

All boaters should ensure they release ropes and leave plenty of play in them to accommodate water level drop.

We anticipate that water levels should slowly return to normal during the evening and night of Thursday 30th July.

This will affect levels upstream to Woodnook and Lemonroyd Locks

18/06/2020 11:49

We can confirm that the deal boards will be replaced on Monday 22nd June and the levels will start to reduce from 6am.

We anticipate that the levels will increase to the original reduced water levels of up to 200mm by 8pm on Monday 22nd June in order to continue to facilitate repair works to Castleford Weir until 31 August.

18/06/2020 08:04

A deal board at Castleford was damaged at the weekend which requires a repair.

The repair will be undertaken w/c 22nd June, resulting in a reduced water level of 500-600mm upstream whilst these works are carried out.

29/05/2020 08:39

There will be reduced water levels of up to 200mm below normal level from 1st of June to 31st August 2020 between Bulholme, Castleford, Woodnook and Lemonroyd Locks to facilitate repair works to Castleford Weir.

Can boaters please consider loosening of mooring ropes during these works.

Canal and River Trust apologise for any inconvenience caused whilst these necessary works are undertaken.

Description

There are low water levels from Lemonroyd Lock to Bulholme Lock due to flood damage to the weir that retains the water levels.

We will update this notice when we receive further information.
