Peak Forest Canal, Romiley Between Bridges 14 - 15

We are pleased to advise navigation has resumed between Bridge 14, Hole House Fold Bridge, and Bridge 15, Romiley Bridge on the Peak Forest Canal. We would like to thank all our customers for your co-operation during these necessary works.

We are pleased to advise navigation has resumed between Bridge 14, Hole House Fold Bridge, and Bridge 15, Romiley Bridge on the Peak Forest Canal. We would like to thank all our customers for your co-operation during these necessary works.

Due to a pollution incident on the Peak Forest Canal at Romiley, we have placed a boom across the canal to prevent the movement of the spill.

A tanker is arranged to attend tomorrow (Thursday 9 January) to remove the oil from the surface.  The boom will be removed from the canal when the tanker has cleared the oil.

The pollution, whilst unsightly, is not impacting on the environment and we are working closely with the local business and the Environmental Agency to clean this up as quickly as possible.

An update will be provided tomorrow afternoon when the canal has reopened.
