Information for all Canal users

Due to extra commercial traffic through this weekend the restrictions for boat travel between Hempsted and Sims Bridge have been amended slightly.

Gloucester Rowing Club will be holding its annual Rowing Regatta on Saturday 24th August 2019 and Sunday 25th August 2019 between 8am & 6pm both days. Side by side racing will take place on The Canal at Hempsted Meadows (1 mile south of Gloucester Docks) between Hempsted Bridge & Netheredge Bridge.

The navigation will remain open for passage but there will be restrictions as below. Boaters should follow the advice of bridge keepers, event marshals and safety boat crews to ensure safe passage.  The rowing club will make every endeavour to get boats through the regatta as quickly as possible within the race schedule.

GRC does not operate VHF radios but does have a local radio net to communicate along the length of the regatta course. If any other canal user wishes to communicate with the regatta organising team then they can approach any marshal with a radio, call Hempsted Bridge, or call GRC Event Secretary Robert Dibley on 07966 568 791.
