Gas Pipe adjacent to Bell Bridge, Walstead Rd, Walsall.

Due to engineering problems the works are having to be put on hold & the towpath will now be re-opened this Friday (16th) afternoon. Balfour Beatty are hopeful to be able to revisit site on 23/9/19 for a 3 week period to complete the works. During this period the towpath will again be closed with a suitable diversion in place

Works entailed are the replacement of brick supports for the above ground gas main crossing the canal and the installation of access deterrent spindles on the pipe which will require scaffolding in place to carry this task out.

The towpath beneath the gas pipe and bridge has been closed for safety reasons during these works however there is a short diversion in place which allows users to access and leave the towpath either side of the bridge.
