Network Rail hope to complete their towpath works at Aspen Rail Bridge, as planned, by 31st March.
However, their contractors are currently unable to remove their pontoon from under the bridge and they have requested we retain the navigation restriction for an additional week until 8th April. A navigation width of 6 metres will be maintained during this period.
Customers are asked to move only if essential to reach services and to follow Government guidance at all times.

The navigation at Bridge 109A, Aspen Rail Bridge, was opened, as planned, on 13th March.
However, Network Rail has requested we retain a navigation restriction and towpath closure until they have safely completed the remaining towpath works and cleared their equipment from the site.

Please note the new end date of the closure.
Network Rail's contractors, Murphys & Sons Ltd, have requested a week's extension to this stoppage due to the complexity of the work involved in replacing the bridge.
Contractors will be working overnight and during the weekends.
Description
Contractors Murphys & Sons Ltd, working on behalf of Network Rail, have requested a closure to carry out the replacement of the railway bridge.
Access to the bridge will be via a fixed pontoon. There will be a temporary right of way closure to towpaths during the core works and contractors will be working overnight and during the weekends.
Please note the new dates for this closure, which avoid the requirement for the navigation to be closed over Christmas.
