Please be aware the brickwork repairs in Islington Tunnel, originally planned for this winter, will now be deferred in order to release funds for more urgent arising works. This stoppage is therefore cancelled.

Description

Brickwork repairs will be undertaken within the tunnel.

This will require the water level in the tunnel to be lowered, or dewatered, so that the teams can repair all the defective brickwork, above and below the normal water level.

The towpath and mooring sites adjacent to the tunnel portals will need to be closed during the works, as the dams used for the works will be set a distance back from the tunnel to give us working room.
