Lock 8, River Lock, Tarleton, Rufford Branch (Leeds & Liverpool Canal)

An opportunity has arisen to complete the flood gate replacement and lock ladder extension at Tarleton River Lock 8 during the naturally occurring low high tides in June/July 2020. During this time, the low tide levels prevent any boat movements through the lock. Carrying out the work then will avoid the need for a separate stoppage this winter and will significantly reduce costs for the Trust, as steel stop planks will not have to be manufactured and installed in order to complete the works safely. This winter's stoppage is therefore cancelled. A new notice will be issued when the new summer dates are confirmed.

A stoppage is required to carry out the replacement of the flood gate and to extend the lock ladder.
