The bed re-lining works at Sheaf Quay have been completed.  However, in order to help maintain water levels in the basin whilst emergency works are carried out at the Tinsley pumps, we have re-installed one of the dams and the navigation will remain closed until further notice.

Further information regarding Tinsley pumps can be found here: https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notices/17324-installation-of-pumps-tinsley

Please follow advice on the Trust’s website regarding coronavirus:  https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/safety-on-our-waterways/coronavirus

Thank you.

Our contractors have encountered issues with access to the site and with the amount of silt in the canal.  This has delayed progress on re-lining the bed.

Unfortunately, therefore, we need to extend this closure until 31st March in order to safely complete all the work involved.

We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.

Description

Contractors, working on behalf of the Trust, require a closure of the navigation before the canal basin at Sheaf Quay, in order to re line 80 metres of the canal.
