We note that the Shropshire Union Main Line is to be closed yet again before Christmas (Tyrley Locks and Market Drayton Embankment in Nov/Dec). This will be the third year running that the Shroppie Main Line will be closed before Christmas. Last year (the second), we complained as part of this process, as stoppages have always alternated before and after Christmas, and were promised that it would not happen this year, and that Shroppie stoppages would be after Christmas. You clearly do not worry about breaking promises. Closures have a significant detrimental economic effect on canalside village communities, and shops such as ours. Please will you confirm that you will do what you promised last year - not have Shroppie main line stoppages this year before Christmas. We accept that stoppages are necessary, but CRT must spread them fairly, and not have the same stretch of canal closed for the same period three years running.
