The sand bank has been removed.
However, the lock chambers have a build up of silt and cannot be operated.
Please remember our advice - only move your boat if it’s essential (not for leisure purposes) and minimise your use of the towpath.
If you are not currently occupying your boat the government guidance is that you must not visit it (this means no short trips or breaks on your boat at this time).
Please follow the government advice – stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives

The sand bank in the middle of the channel has increased due to silt washout from the recent storms.
It is impassable at the moment.
We will update this notice when we receive further information.
Description
There is a sand bank in the middle of the channel due to silt washout from recent storms.
Boaters please keep to the edge of the navigation and take care when approaching the area. Signs will be onsite shortly to advise boaters.
