Bridges 204 and 206 Little Leigh, Trent and Mersey Canal

Further to our update last week, we confirm the towpath will be re-opened and left open overnight from Tuesday 9th April, as planned.

Please be aware, our Contractors, Land & Water Services, will still be working nearby for the rest of this week and we would ask all customers to take care in the vicinity of operating plant.  Please follow any instructions given by our Contractors or staff on site.

Please be aware that the towpath at Little Leigh will be opened to users during working hours (9am until 5pm) from 3rd April.  However, for the next week, it will be necessary for us to close the towpath overnight while our contractors complete their work in the area.

An alternative route from Bridge 204 Hole House Lane to Bridge 207 Willow Green is available using adjacent public rights of way.

The washwall repairs near Little Leigh Aqueduct are progressing well. 

Please be aware the navigation is now fully closed from the East Portal of Saltersford Tunnel, through the tunnel to Bridge 206, Bradley Meadow Bridge.

Since the last stoppage update in August we've been working closely with our engineers and contractors to develop a cost-effective and time-efficient design for the washwall repairs.

We will not be able to commence work on 2nd January, as originally advertised, but will start week commencing 21st January. The canal will still be reopened to navigation on 15th March as planned, although we will continue to work on the towpath. We apologise for the late notice of this change to the stoppage.
