Further to the update of 30 August 2016, the road closure required to undertake repair works to Plank Lane Lift Bridge will commence on Monday 3 October and will be in place for one week. During this time, the canal will be open to navigation. However, boaters may be asked to wait for up to two hours while our teams clear the area accordingly. Please follow the advice of Canal & River Trust representatives on site at all times.
We will continue to operate the bridge daily at 2pm until 3rd October, when the road closure and repair works commence.
An update will be issued on Wednesday 5 October.

Further to the update of 24 August 2016, a road closure is needed to undertake the required repair works to Plank Lane Lift Bridge. Application has been made for this with the local authority. Until a date is confirmed for the road closure, we will continue to operate the bridge daily at 2pm.
The Leigh Canal Festival takes place from 9 to 11 September. To manage the boat traffic during the festival, we will operate the bridge at 10am and 2pm from 8 September to 12 September 2016. Following this, we will revert to operating the bridge once a day at 2pm.
An update will be issued as soon as the road closure dates are confirmed.

Further to the update issued this morning, to meet demand in the area, we will now we providing assistance through the bridge on Sunday. The revised assistance for Plank Lane Lift Bridge is as follows:
- Saturday 13 August – 2pm
- Sunday 14 August – 2pm
- Monday 15 August – 2pm
A further update will be issued on Monday.

Further to the notice of Monday 8 August, the required part has been ordered and we anticipate that installation will take place mid to late next week. In the meantime, our teams will continue to provide assistance. For the next few days this will be as follows:
- Friday 12 August – 2pm
- Saturday 13 August – 2pm
- Sunday 14 August – closed
- Monday 15 August – 2pm

Plank Lane Lift Bridge will remain closed to user operation until further notice.
Canal & River Trust team members will be on site at 2pm every other day to manually operate the bridge for all waiting customers. This will be as follows for this week:

Friday 12 August - 2pm

Description

It will be operated by the Trust’s M&E team on Saturday at 2pm and then Monday at 2pm to allow boats to pass through.
