This restriction includes a towpath closure which has a short diversion to each side of the bridge, but the highway will be closed. 

Navigation restriction to the canal is required.

Skippers should slow down when approaching the bridge and be prepared to stop if requested, but delays will be less than 20 minutes. The bridge hole will be restricted to 5m in width and the height to 2.5m. The towpath will have a short diversion to each side of the bridge, but the highway will be closed.

Please be advised that an extension has been granted to contractors for this restriction to navigation until 27th September.

Currently, the contractors are preparing for the arrival of a crane on site and delivery of the deck beams, which are due to be lifted into place in mid-August, then remedial works completed with the towpath and bridge being opened again on 27th September.  We apologies for the inconvenience this will cause.

A towpath closure with short diversion and navigation restriction to the canal is required at this location to facilitate the demolition and replacement of road bridge over the canal.
