After extensive investigations, the contractors at Bridge 3 to Bridge 4 have been unable to resolve the leak. We have taken the decision to demobilise that team and re open the navigation between Lock 1 and Lock 7 to allow boaters to return back to moorings for winter. This reopening will start from Monday 24th October.
We will be reopening Tuel Lane Lock to boat passage on a restricted basis, with passage available on Monday's and Friday's only. Boat passage on Monday 24th October is available from 8am to 3pm and will not require prebooking.

Navigation remains closed from Lock 1, Sowerby Bridge to Lock 48, Littleborough on the Rochdale canal, due to continued dry conditions. Whilst we have experienced some rainfall over the last few weeks, it has not been enough to impact on third-party supplies and surface water feeders that supply the canal.
Passage through Lock 9 to Hebden Bridge Services remains open Wednesdays and Saturdays only, 10am - 2pm, for access to local essential services.
Please ensure you have sufficient time to use the services in time for the 2pm lock closure. As the situation with water levels progress, we may need to change to a booking system through this lock, at which point an update to the notice would be issued.
Our team have been carrying out emergency repairs to a culvert near to Lock 35, Warland. Works progress onsite and we anticipate we will be in a position to refill this pound week commencing Monday 10 October. Please note, the canal will remain closed following these works.
Our teams will continue to monitor the available third-party inflows into the canal and provide updates throughout the closed period.

Despite some recent rainfall, third-party water supplies and surface water that feed the Rochdale canal continue to decline, heavily impacting on the water levels along the Rochdale Canal. In order to protect our infrastructure and wildlife that inhabit this waterway, navigation will close from Lock 1 to Lock 45 on Monday 1 August.
To conserve as much water as possible and prevent navigation through these locks, the locks will be padlocked closed and secured against operation.
Bookings already in place for the Summit lock flight and between Tuel Lane Lock and Lock 9 will be honoured and go ahead as booked.
