We are experiencing a delay in works to repair Lock 65, Wheelock Top Offside Lock, which have delayed the works to establish the exact cause of the underwater obstruction at Lock 60, Longcroft Towpath Side Lock on the Trent & Mersey Canal.

Once works to repair Lock 65 are complete, the team will move to Lock 60 to start the required works.

Works to establish the exact cause of the underwater obstruction at Lock 60, Longcroft Towpath Side Lock on the Trent & Mersey Canal will commence following the repairs to Lock 65, Wheelock Top Offside Lock.

Due to the current location of workboats and other equipment needed, these works are subject to status of ongoing closures and further subject to arising emergency works within the North West.

Due to a new Mandatory Standard imposed in October 2020, further approval regarding the creation of Stop Planks was needed which has delayed the works at Lock 60, Longcroft Towpath Side Lock on the Trent & Mersey Canal.

The design of the Stop Planks has now been approved and our teams are working on dates to able to dewater the lock.

Due to arising emergency works within the North West, we are still in the process of organising a de-watered inspection of the lock to establish the exact cause of the underwater obstruction at Lock 60, Longcroft Towpath Side Lock on the Trent & Mersey Canal.

We are currently in the process of organising a de-watered inspection of the lock to establish the exact cause of the underwater obstruction at Lock 60, Longcroft Towpath Side Lock on the Trent & Mersey Canal. Before this can happen stop planks need to be measured and made, which will take several weeks.
