A Canal & River Trust lock keeper is present on the following days:
Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday of each week between the dates above (No booking required). On these days the operating times for Tuel lock are first boat entry at 8.30am with last passage at 4.00pm.
Tuel Lock (Lock 3), Sowerby Bridge is operated by a Canal & River Trust lock keeper. Please follow the local signage and the lock keeper’s instructions.
Do not enter the tunnel (below lock 3) whilst boats are in lock 3.
Locks 1 and 3 will be padlocked outside of the normal entry hours specified above.
A booking system is in operation for passage on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during this period. Bookings should be made by calling our Yorkshire & North East office on 03030 404040 during office hours, giving 24 hours’ notice of your booking. On these days passage is between 8.30am with last boat passage at 4.00pm.
No permanent lock keeper will be present from Monday 4th November 2019 until Friday 13th March 2020. Bookings should be made by calling our Yorkshire & North East office on 03030 404040 during office hours, giving 48 hours’ notice of your booking. Please note no passage is possible between Friday 20th December 2019 and Wednesday 1st January 2020.
